So many people who have contacted me had previously given up on getting their loved
one help since they didn’t think the speed of recovery was fast enough.
When asked if they had participated in the therapy process, we almost always received an emphatic NO. The therapist didn’t want them in the room, or “Your husband/wife will do better without you as a distraction," etc.
A TOTALLY NEW AND DIFFERENT APPROACH
We have been changing the way apraxia and aphasia therapy is done all over the world. Training institutions, and I mean SOME are realizing that those with these speaking difficulties actually REQUIRE someone at home to teach them to talk again if one is available and how important the people at home need to be trained in the
proper methods.
A THERAPIST CAN RARELY IF EVER PROVIDE THE THERAPY REQUIRED FOR A SEVERE APRAXIA OR APHASIA
A speech therapist cannot provide the amount of therapy or stimulation most with apraxia or aphasia require. In addition you must find an expert if you truly want to make progress
with talking. An expert with experience.
